Started with shucking corn with ML, who told Sarah she was leaving. Sarah was sad to see her friend go so soon, and tried to talk her out of it. Sarah explained to me that ML and her family cannot afford to have Karlito and me stay there fr more than a few days. I decided to go to town - five taxisd showed up - who´s responsible??? - I pay 160 Bs total, an spend not only a bit of time with Mary Luz, but also some time on the internet. Eduardo translated and squared up some thigns between ML and myself. Secreto grande, and many want to read the paper I will writre about SArah, one called her a ¨ipocrita¨ and even wrote it on one of my luggage tags. Sarah was very glad to see us come back. Blue maleta went with ML, but not the black one.

ML wants to go home, says ¨trabajo comer!¨ She´s worked on a dress for the Paraguayan woman, and arah says it is for room and board. I had tea with the Paraguyan family in the evening. Not sure what it is but it reminds me of a bong, because it looks like one, and it´s shared with everyone present, except the children. I don´t feel anything. they explain it is just to relax you, nothing more than a tea from Paraguay.

Washed clothes, talked to Sarah about current persecution of Christians in EEUU. Lost a sock, one of the Paraguayan boys grabbed it for me. She (meaning Sarah) says I can stay for 30 Bs a day (7 Bs to the dollar) for food and free rent if I help out half days. We barely eat 15 Bs a day.

Arrived at Sarah´s, took four mototaxis, lots ofluggage. Says she would prefer me to rent and pay to eat instead of teach because i´d just be a burden to her nd she wopn´t get anything out of it. I re'explain I came to work and teach, she says she does not hve time to teach me. Also says Nelson (son) and Andrew (grandson) don´t have time for formal lessons because all of their time is taken up with farm work.

Still travelling, crossed one river wih the bus, had to get off before they loaded the bus, dirt in bottom caused Karl to think ew were still on dry land, lol, then back on bus. (In) Rurrenabaque, met Moses, very nice boy, friend of ML´s gave him 10 Bs for help. Got pictures, end of firts card. Very steep climb! Spent the night(I think) in Rurre, not sure. (No, it was in Trinidad.)

Before leaving Santa Cruz<, Monica and I went shopping for shirts in downtown Santa Cruz. I bought, overbought, ouch, a bunch of shirts and two pairs of shorts.

Left Santa Cruz today with ML. Monica rode with us, but onbly to the terminal. Slept on the top level of the bus, peed outside, no bathroom.

Airport was nice, air conditioned, too. Very good food, helpful people, but can´t find phone anywhere! Finally find it, it´s at a counter. Costs to dial, even with no answer. I pay the girl, and we go outside to wait for Monica.
